1.0 WTE – Developing Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Band 5-6 run-through post, Integrated Community Therapy Team

This newly created post within the well-established Haringey Integrated Community Therapy Team (ICTT) is an exciting opportunity for a recently qualified Speech and Language Therapist to develop his/her clinical skills in the field of adult community and outpatient rehabilitation within the borough.

We are looking for a dynamic Speech and Language Therapist with the ability to provide a comprehensive therapy service to patients, families and carers of adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing difficulties. The post holder will be based 0.5 WTE in the stroke service and as such, knowledge in the assessment, differential diagnosis and treatment of swallowing and communication difficulties with this client group is desirable. The remaining 0.5 WTE of the post will provide the opportunity to develop clinical skills in working with patients with other neurological, respiratory and surgical conditions.

The Haringey Integrated Community Therapy Team is a multidisciplinary therapy team providing rehabilitation to adults in Haringey with a range of diagnoses, such as stroke (including Early Supported Stroke Discharge), Traumatic Brain Injury, progressive neurological disorders and complex disability. We have weekly MDT clinics and work collaboratively with colleagues in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and have access to skilled Rehabilitation Assistants.

We work closely with our acute colleagues and have access to regular outpatient videofluoroscopy and FEES clinics and to the joint ENT/Voice clinic. We also work closely with The Highly Specialist SLT at the Assistive Communication Service in Parsons Green and there will be opportunity to shadow therapists within this service.

We can provide on-going clinical supervision and professional development within a large and dynamic multidisciplinary team with close links with other health and social care colleagues, third sector services, local acute hospitals and specialist tertiary centres.
