The Michael Palin Centre for Stammering is an internationally recognised centre of expertise in disorders of fluency. It is run by NHS Whittington Health and supported by the charity Action for Stammering Children. The Centre is situated in its own premises in Clerkenwell, London.
The Centre provides a comprehensive range of specialist programmes of therapy for children, young people and adults with fluency disorders, as well as offering a national tertiary consultation service to speech and language therapists (SLTs) and families. In addition there is a rolling programme of national and international training for SLTs and other professionals and an expanding research agenda into the nature and treatment of stammering.
The Centre is able to offer this exciting opportunity for a part time research administrator to join the team of twelve specialist SLTs with regular, direct line management and peer support on site. We will provide a structured programme of induction and training and you will have access to an extensive library and other resources.
You will be expected to have a knowledge of a range of database software packages and experience in the collection and management of audit/research data is required. Project management experience or research experience as part of health related undergraduate degree will be an advantage. An understanding of statistical packages (such as SPSS) and reference manager software (such as Endnote) is desirable. You will need to demonstrate an awareness of research and clinical governance issues, and previous work in the NHS and in a busy office environment will be helpful.
