By applying for this role, you accept in the event you are successful that your personal data may be transferred from the Trust to another NHS organisation where your employment transfers within the NHS. This is in accordance with the streamlining programme which is aimed at saving you time and improving efficiencies within the NHS when your employment transfers.
The Whittington is a major provider of secondary care to the local boroughs of Islington and West Haringey, and is one of the three main teaching campuses of the Royal Free and University College Medical School. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new General Paediatric Consultant to join our team for a year. This is an 8 PA post. The role will involve General Paediatrics acute attending and on call and general paediatric and rapid access clinics. This is a general paediatric post but there may be opportunities to run other specialist clinics and experience in epilepsy and asthma would be particularly welcomed but are not essential.
We offer you the opportunity to work in a friendly and cohesive department providing high-quality services. There is a strong focus on multidisciplinary teaching, and we have a consistently excellent training reputation.
We welcome enquiries from applicants on the specialist register and from trainees who are within six months of CCT and General Paediatric CCT holders with appropriate experience.
For an informal discussion or to arrange a visit, please contact Dr Elinor Sefi, Consultant Paediatrician (firstname.lastname@example.org);

Working for our organisation
Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post is for 8 PA’s with a 1:11 on call rota in general paediatrics and is to cover for maternity leave.
We are looking for someone with broad training in general paediatrics who is confident and comfortable in managing the general paediatric in-patient ward including the high dependency unit and experienced in running outpatient clinics. A strong commitment from the appointee to the department and involvement with activities such as audit, appraisal and assessment, clinical governance and development of guidelines is expected.
