PLEASE NOTE: Band 6 Applicants are encouraged to apply. We will consider Band 6 candidates if they can strongly demonstrate the required competencies, and would provide support to a Band 6 candidate in progressing to Band 7.

Whittington Health is an Integrated Care Organisation (ICO) which provides acute and community services to the populations of Islington and Haringey.  Our service is based in the London Borough of Haringey – an exciting, diverse and vibrant borough, located only a few miles from the City of London.  The Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team is based at St Ann’s Hospital and across SEN Schools in Haringey.

We seek an experienced clinician who has highly specialist skills and experience to lead our work with children and young people within SEN Schools.

Scope of Job:

  • To provide a high quality, evidence based occupational therapy service which promotes participation and functional activity of children and young people accessing the occupational therapy services. This includes provision of specialist seating/equipment.
  • To lead in delivering child and family focused, goal led interventions at a highly specialist level for children and young people accessing occupational therapy service in collaboration with multidisciplinary health, therapy and education teams.
  • To provide clinical leadership within the SEN Schools Occupational Therapy Service.

The successful applicant would be expected to work closely with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services.  Specialist opportunities exist to work within the Child Development Team, developing and running multidisciplinary team (MDT) intervention and delivering training to schools and parents/carers in relation to participation in daily activities.

We are an innovative team committed to delivering high quality clinical care to the children and young people who access our service.   The service is developing new ways of working to meet increasing demands and the successful applicant will be a part of this exciting transformation.  The successful candidate will meet the criteria as defined in the personal specification for the role and must demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and creatively in both the leadership and clinical aspects of the role. The team also works closely with the Local Education Authority, Occupational Therapists within Haringey Social Services, and MDT members within SEN Schools.

The post holder will receive an in-depth induction and regular supervision.  Opportunities will also be available to participate in ongoing training and development as part of their CPD.
