Highly Specialised Occupational Therapist - Urgent and Emergency Care - Band 7

At Whittington Health we are committed to improving the experience for frail, older patients attending our Emergency Department. We have a well-developed frailty pathway from Rapid Assessment through to our Ambulatory Care unit where we can provide Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment in a timely way in conjunction with a Frailty Consultant and Specialist Nurse.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist, ideally with experience of working in the fast paced Emergency Department environment. The focus for the Frailty team is “Home first” when possible to avoid unnecessary admission to hospital.

For this role you will need to demonstrate advanced skills in assessment, problem solving and complex case management to manage the varied and diverse caseload.

The post sits within the Specialized Therapy and Rapid Assessment Team (START) which provides therapy cover to the Emergency Department, Ambulatory Care, Clinical Decision Unit and 2 Acute Assessment Units.

The service operates over 12 hours, 7 days a week. The post holder will be expected to participle in the weekend and out of core hour’s Rota.

The team is supported by a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and there are 2 further Highly Specialized Therapists (OT & PT) in the team for senior peer support.

You will have the opportunity to deliver and lead on quality improvement initiatives, service development projects and audits.
