Assessment and Intervention Team (AIT) Senior Nurse Practitioner

 

Band 6

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Haringey Learning Disabilities Partnership (HLDP)

We are looking for an experienced and skilled Learning Disabilities Nurses to join HLDP as part of the multidisciplinary Assessment & Intervention Team (AIT). The primary aim of AIT is to meet the needs of adults with learning disabilities who have significant mental health issues and/or behaviour that challenges, which require intensive intervention using a person-centred approach, in order to prevent unnecessary hospital admission or placement breakdown. A central role of AIT is involvement in the Transforming Care Programme.

Therefore, the successful applicant must be able to competently and confidently manage a caseload of people who have learning disabilities as well as mental health needs, and/or behaviours that challenge. You will be expected to work collaboratively using a multi-disciplinary approach to assess behaviour that challenges, formulate a hypothesis, and propose a therapeutic intervention based on the principles of positive behaviour support.

It is also essential that the successful candidate will have excellent time management and organisational skills, a sound understanding of the mental health needs of people who have learning disabilities, and will be an excellent team player. Some supervisory responsibilities will be included in the role, as will service development opportunities and training delivery.

Haringey Learning Disabilities Partnership consists of a range of health and social care professionals from the Local Authority, Whittington Health NHS Trust and Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust. This includes Social Workers, Community Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Psychiatrists and more. All professions work together with a shared vision of improving the health and social care outcomes for people who have learning disabilities. An added benefit is that the successful applicant will be able to access training and development opportunities from all three organisations.

Haringey is a lively and dynamic borough, and is one of the most ethnically and socially diverse boroughs in London. The Psychological Therapies Services, hosted by Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, are large and well established, operating across a range of client groups.
