(Six months in the first instance)

Applications are invited for the post of locum Consultant Histopathologist based at the Whittington Hospital (part of Whittington Health NHS Trust). The position is available immediately and is for six months in the first instance.

Participation in the general rota is required with development of specialist interests in two or more of the following areas: dermatopathology, gastrointestinal, urology or breast. The department receives the normal casemix of a district general hospital covering a wide range of specialities. Participation in provision of the cytology service (cervical and diagnostic) is not required. Participation in the autopsy service is desirable but not essential.

Whittington Health is an Integrated Care Organisation (ICO) serving the diverse population of North Central London. It comprises the Whittington Hospital (which is a teaching district general hospital) in Archway (providing acute secondary care), as well as several community services across Islington and Haringey.

The department holds full CPA accreditation and is awaiting the formal award of UKAS accreditation. Applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council in the UK. They must also be on the Specialist Register, or be in possession of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in histopathology on taking up the post. Applicants must have broad training and experience in histopathology (including post-mortem work if applicable).
