Senior Clinical Fellow in Bariatric & UGI Surgery

A vacancy has become available of General Surgery for the above post of Clinical Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery based at Whittington Health NHS Trust, to commence as soon as possible for a period of one year.

This post is suitable for just post or within 6 months of CCT candidate who would like to augment his experience in bariatric surgery before becoming a Bariatric Consultant. The posts will be for 12 months. The postholder will be expected to conduct daily ward rounds and take part in regular out-patient bariatric clinics, elective bariatric and emergency surgical operating lists, bariatric endoscopy and administrative duties.  The on call rota is currently a one in ten rota. A consultant emergency surgeon model is currently in place.

This is an exciting post designed to offer specialist training and experience in Bariatric surgery. The post holder will occupy a key organisational role in the Bariatric & Upper GI team; gain practical surgical experience of benign laparoscopic Upper GI surgery and in all bariatric procedures, for which the trust is a designated provider.

Principal responsibilities include outpatient clinics, inpatient/day case operating and perioperative ward care and participation in the general surgical On Call rota.

Eligible candidates should be fully registered with the GMC and have a license to practice.

Rated overall as good in its 2016 CQC inspection and with a reputation as one of the safest Trusts in England, Whittington Health, an Integrated Care Organisation in North London, is looking to recruit two speciality grade doctors to complement the existing teams in Upper GI, Bariatrics, Colorectal, Breast and General Surgery.
