Job overview

The Porters ensures the effective day-to-day operation of Portering Services at Whittington Hospital Trust as part of the Portering Services team. They support patient care by maintaining consistent non-patient and/or patient transport standards and processes and delivering high levels of customer service at all times

Main duties of the job

Facilities Service Assistant (Porters)

Domestic and Portering Staff 

Salary, agenda for change band 2 

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week and Part Time hours

You will be responsible for the maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital and /or carrying out Portering duties. 

The role is varied and wide ranging, therefore, flexibility and the ability to work with the ward team are essential requirements. Excellent communication skills are required as is the ability to work using your own initiative. Previous experience of working within the NHS or on a Hospital Ward would be an advantage. Additional training and development will be available.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for undertaking the following duties as and when required; delivery and collection of goods and equipment, patient’s transport, linen and laundry collection, medical records, medical gases, blood products, samples, mortuary duties, cleaning of public areas, night theatre cover.
