Advert: Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Dietitian 0.5 WTE

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the expanding Intermediate Diabetes Specialist Service at Whittington Health. This post serves a diverse patient population in the vibrant multi-cultural London Borough of Haringey. The post will often require some travel to the London Borough of Islington for clinical supervision and team meetings.

We are looking for an experienced diabetes specialist dietitian to work part-time (2.5 days per week) alongside the existing Intermediate Diabetes Team which comprises of a lead nurse, 4 Diabetes Specialist Nurses and two Diabetes Specialist Dietitians. You will be involved in the management of predominantly Type 2 diabetes, providing expert care to patients, their families and carers, in both one to one and group settings. This team is supported by regular consultant led supervision and is closely linked with the hospital diabetes team.

Whittington Health has a strong ethos of patient self-management towards the prevention of diabetes related complications. In addition to supporting patients in at an individual clinical level, this role includes delivering group education to empower patients with the confidence, skills and knowledge to live fulfilling lives with a long term health condition.

This post will also have links with the Nutrition and Dietetic team who provide dietetic services to community teams in Islington, Camden, Haringey and the Whittington Hospital and the Whittington Health Self-Management Team.

The post holder will have post registration experience and sufficient post-graduate training, experience and knowledge in dietetic practice to enable them to deliver high standards of clinical care working as an autonomous practitioner. Ability to effectively manage a dietetic caseload, have good organisational and time management skills are essential.
