Advert: Biomedical Scientist

Band 6 -Permanent 37.5 Hrs

 

We are seeking a suitably qualified (HCPC) person with experience in Biochemistry to join the staff of this busy District General Hospital as Band 6 Biomedical Scientist.

 The Laboratory has integrated Haematology, Biochemistry and some aspects of Immunology into a core Blood Sciences Laboratory.

The successful candidates will be expected to work in the first instance in Biochemistry with the possibility of rotating into all areas of Blood Sciences in the future. The laboratory, which is fully computerised and automated, processes in excess of 275,000 patient requests per annum. The Main Instrumentation in Biochemistry is Roche Analysers and in Haematology is Sysmex.

The Laboratory maintains an extended working day and the post holders will be expected to work late shifts as and when required. Once suitably trained they will also be expected to take part in the current on call system.

 Applicants must be highly motivated, enthusiastic and should have flexible but committed approach to working. They will need to demonstrate good organisational skills and the ability to work without close supervision in a team.

The successful candidate MUST have state registration with the HCPC.
