Applications are invited for the post of Medical Education Fellow for the London School of Radiology and Whittington Health NHS Trust. There are 2 short term LTFT appointments to support Education projects in the London School of Radiology.
This is an opportunity for radiology registrars (ST3+) currently on London training programmes to spend up to a year LTFT (2 days/week) out of programme working on projects supporting training in the London School of Radiology, while continuing clinical training in their current scheme. The posts are nominally based at the Whittington Hospital, but due to current Covid-19 restrictions will be expected to work remotely.
Applicants are encouraged from LTFT trainees and job- share would be a possibility.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post is nominally hosted by the Whittington Hospital as the HOS of the London School of Radiology is a consultant at the Whittington Hospital and the funding is coming through this route.
There are no clinical sessions associated with these posts at the Whittington hospital. It is envisaged in the current pandemic that the duties of the posts will be carried out via remote working.
Clinical work will continue to be at the base hospital/ training scheme of the successful applicants.
Duties of the post
This will include working on evaluation of existing online teaching projects, and further development of online teaching, assessment and training resources in collaboration with other groups including the Oxford RAIQC (Radiology and Imaging Quality Control) platform, RCR and HEE e – learning resources. The two major projects will be expanding and developing resources and assessment for OOH work, and working on the ST1 FRCR teaching resources, exploring the development of a curated set of content which is available to trainees across multiple training schemes. These are not exclusive projects. The post holders will work collaboratively. They will also have links with the new Whittington ‘Digitising Medical Education Coordinator‘.
Individual job plans of 2 days work – will be agreed with the HOS in collaboration with the TPD of the successful candidates training scheme.

Experience and Knowledge
· Current Radiology Specialist Trainee in London ST3 or above.
· Teaching experience in either undergraduate or postgraduate education.
· Author or co-author, or contribution to publications or abstracts in peer reviewed and professional journals.
· Experience of organisational development / change e.g. through a quality improvement project, managerial role or as a junior doctor or student representative.
·Knowledge of recent health policy in the UK and London, relevant to healthcare education, the applicant’s own specialty and beyond.
· Knowledge of theory underpinning medical education, and experience in curriculum mapping
· Experience in using sim for training
· GMC registration or professional equivalent.
· Satisfactory progression through training as demonstrated by satisfactory ARCP outcomes including outcome 1 or 10.1 at last ARCP.
· Holds relevant exams for specialty for stage of training e.g. FRCR 2a/2b, (allowing for effect of Covid 19 on exam sittings)
·Higher degree or other evidence of academic study, research or significant initiatives in healthcare beyond the minimum requirements of the training programme.
· If relevant, by the time of interview will have OOPE approved by supervisor and training programme director

- Full GMC Registration
- Current Postgraduate Medical Trainees at ST3 level or above from the London school of Radiology
